As a IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, maintaining, and enhancing our IT infrastructure to support organizational goals. You will bring a deep understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud solutions, and best practices in system maintenance and security. This role demands a high level of technical expertise, a proactive approach to system monitoring and maintenance, and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams across the organization.
Core Responsibilities:
Lead the design and implementation of infrastructure projects, ensuring robustness, scalability, and alignment with organizational objectives.
Exhibit deep technical expertise in IT infrastructure, networking, operating systems, and applications, staying abreast of the latest industry developments.
Monitor the organization's IT infrastructure, using tools like PRTG and monitoring agents, to
proactively identify and address issues. Manage patch management processes, including pre-deployment testing and deployment of critical patches, to maintain system security and efficiency.
Plan and execute regular system maintenance tasks, including firmware updates and OS
upgrades, to ensure system stability. Oversee backup maintenance, ensuring comprehensive backup of all data and systems, and conduct periodic restoration tests.
Demonstrate exceptional troubleshooting skills to resolve complex technical issues involving infrastructure, networks, software, and hardware.
Prioritize and manage incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on business
operations. Collaborate closely with L1 and L2 support teams and senior system engineers to resolve issues, implement changes, and enhance systems.
Provide technical assistance to project teams for installations, deployments, migrations, and other tasks as needed.
Maintain meticulous documentation of system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and incident resolutions, and provide regular reports to the service desk manager.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, with at least 5 years of experience in a senior IT infrastructure role. Expert knowledge of Microsoft cloud products, including M365, Intune, Azure, and related
technologies. Strong experience with storage solutions (HP MSA, Dell Unity, NetApp ONTAP) and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
Proficiency with backup solutions like Veeam and disaster recovery planning.
Advanced troubleshooting skills and experience with network and security appliances (inc Check Point, Fortigate, HPE Aruba).
Relevant professional certifications (e.g., MCSE, CCNP, VCP) are highly desirable. Ability to work the specified hours of 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM AEST, with flexibility for occasional variations as needed.
