Purpose of the Job

The Senior SAP BW Consultant is responsible for developing and optimizing SAP BW and HANA objects to enable advanced analytics consumption through tools like Power BI. This role involves designing and implementing complex analytic models, ensuring robust data integration within SAP BW and HANA, and establishing standards and guidelines for development. Additionally, the consultant will mentor junior developers, create comprehensive technical documentation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-quality analytics solutions aligned with business objectives.

Dimensions/Critical Interfaces

Customers:  All PDO staff & contractors

Interfaces: IM&T, Business Planning team, PDO Assets and Functions, EP Data Management groups 

Systems:  SAP systems, Corporate Systems, Data Platforms, and Analytics tools ( PowerBI, Business  Object)

Experience/Qualifications Needed:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

• Minimum of 8 experience in SAP BW and HANA development, with proven expertise in creating analytics-ready data models.

• SAP BW/HANA certifications preferred.

• Programming experience in either SQL or ABAP

• Profeciency using Analytics tools e.g Power BI, Business Object, Tableau

• Previous Oil & Gas Industry Experience is a plus

Principal Accountabilities

 Development of SAP BW and HANA Objects:

• Design and develop data models in SAP BW and SAP HANA for analytics and reporting.

• Create and optimize HANA views and SAP BW objects for performance and scalability.

ETL Data Pipelines:

• Build and maintain ETL data pipelines from source systems into SAP BW and HANA environments, ensuring efficient and accurate data extraction, transformation, and loading.

Collaboration:

• Work with Functional Consultants to understand business analytics requirements.

• Collaborate with Power BI developers to ensure seamless integration and analytics consumption.

Data Quality and Optimization:

• Ensure data consistency, accuracy, and performance within SAP BW and HANA environments.

• Implement best practices in data modeling, ETL design, and performance optimization.

Standards and Mentorship:

• Develop and enforce standards and guidelines for SAP BW and HANA development.

• Mentor junior developers, providing technical guidance and skill development opportunities.

Documentation:

• Create comprehensive documentation for developed objects, including data flow diagrams, technical specifications, and user guides.

Continuous Improvement:

• Stay updated on SAP BW/HANA innovations and recommend enhancements for system performance and capability.
