Purpose of the Job

The Senior Analytic Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and supporting advanced analytics solutions that align with organizational goals. This role involves collaborating with Functional Consultants, Data Engineers, and business users to deliver scalable solutions, leading a small development team, enhancing analytics system architecture, developing and maintaining analytics guidelines, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring comprehensive technical documentation. 

Dimensions/Critical Interfaces

Customers:  All PDO staff & contractors

Interfaces:   . IM&T, Business Planning team, PDO Assets and Functions, EP Data Management groups 

Systems:   SAP systems, Corporate Systems, Data Platforms, and Analytics tools ( PowerBI, Business  Object)

Experience/Qualifications Needed

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field. 

• Minimum 5 years in analytics development or a related role. Proven expertise in analytics tools and scripting languages.

• Experience with Microsoft Azure, and SQL data warehouse or other data warehouses such as SAP BW/HANA or Exadata 

• Analytics certifications are desirable.

• Previous Oil & Gas Industry Experience is a plus

Principal Accountabilities

Analytics Solution Development:

• Design and implement advanced analytics solutions to meet business needs.

• Ensure adherence to enterprise data & analytics architecture standards and best practices.

Team Leadership:

• Lead and manage a small team of Analytic Developers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality analytics solutions.

• Foster collaboration, distribute tasks effectively, and support team development.

System Architecture:

• Evaluate and improve existing analytics system architecture to enhance performance, scalability, and maintainability.

Collaboration:

• Work with Functional Consultants to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

• Partner with Data Engineers to integrate and optimize data workflows.

Guidelines and Best Practices:

• Develop, document, and enforce analytics guidelines and standards.

Mentorship:

• Mentor junior Analytic Developers, fostering team skill development and collaboration.

Support and Maintenance:

• Provide support for analytics solutions, resolving issues within SLA timelines.

Documentation:

• Maintain comprehensive documentation for analytics solutions, including architecture diagrams and user guides.
